Long Text Messages Inbound

My mother in law is in the hospital, so there are times I get long text messages from my sister in law who is with her.

For some reason I get the first part, but not the second.

First part will come in (1/2) and then the text - but the 2/2 doesn't show up.

Any ideas?

If the person send you a text message sends it more than 160 characters, and from a non-verizon phone, you will only get the first half. they need to break it up into two seperate text messages both under 160 characters.

Pingplayer - I was thinking that, but since I'm so new to Andriod, I thought I'd check with others.

Synycalwon - I wish she would do emailing, but to be honest, I am not sure she has email on her phone or not. I'll ask.

that's not true... I get messages from people broken up all the time that aren't on vzw. just got a couple last night from someone on AT&T

Mine are hit or miss. Sometimes I get multiple messages without issue, and other times it takes 2 or 3 resends to finally get the other part(s).

Well it is called SMS (Short Message Service) for a reason.....

Reminds me of the old Nextel push to talk service where people would try to have a long conversation over it. Wasn't designed for that, just quick messages. If you want a long conversation, go all old school: pick up the phone and call....

all text messages from the carriers have limit on the characters sent. It isn't just Verizon
that's why they are broken up

Well I'll just tell her to keep it short or resend LOL ...

But then again, her phone calls are twice as long as any txting she would do :'(

Maybe I shouldn't complain!
