Longer "Dash" Cables?

I've been looking for word from somewhere that OnePlus has said they'll release more Dash cables in the future- only to be sorely disappointed.

I do remember a Reddit AMA where they said that they weren't going to license the spec to other manufacturers.

It's unfortunate that the only Dash cable available is the 100cm (3.3ft) one that comes with the unit. My phone spends the night on my dresser - which is more than 100cm off the ground. I had a Nexus 5X, and one of the first things I did was buy a standard 2m USB-C cable, which worked well with the included charger to give me fast charging. That isn't an option - so I'm left with... what, buying an extension cord, plugging the Dash charger into that, and having all of that behind my dresser?

OnePlus has a standard USB-C cable that's 150cm; why didn't they do this with Dash?!

The length of the cable is one of the things I noticed when I got mine too. I have to agree, it is pretty short

Can I use a different cable with the DASH charger or will it not charge as quickly?

I have not tried that yet but I do have a cable I can try it out with at home. I'll do that later. But I do believe it needs the original cable as well.

You likely don't need dash charging at an overnight location. I keep the dash charger at my desk for fast charging during the day. At night I use an old micro-usb charger with usb-c adapter. I don't care how long overnight charging takes as long as it is 100% by morning.

Same here. I keep the dash charger free for when I need to top off.

I'm taking to not charging overnight at all. In the morning, I can plug it in while I'm in the shower/eating breakfast, and it's rocking 90+ percent by the time I hit the front door. Although I agree fully - a longer cable is really a must. I can't actually connect it at my desk at work, because there isn't an outlet within three feet of where I can use it. That barely gets from the power bar on the floor through the cord hole in the desk top.

Could be worse, I guess, but if we MUST use these cables to DASH, there should be a more humane length available.

I use my Dash charger at home, but for the office I use a standard USB-C cable and a 2.0A charging cube (quite fast) or plug the cable right into my laptop's charging port (not quite as fast).

How fast does it charge with the 2.0A charger?

I just tried an old 3ft microUSB with an Aukey Type C adapter on the end, plugged into an Anker Quick Charge 3.0 car charger. In the 4 minute drive to work, I picked up 3%. So it's SLIGHTLY slower than Dash charging, but I'd say not by a huge margin. It's not like it will go down to a half amp trickle charge. I'd say it's about as fast as I was getting from Quick Charge 2.0. Hope that gives you SOME indication anyway. :)
