I ordered my DX the other day. Now that I have done that I am looking for apps for my new DX. First on the list is a backup solution that will back up everything on the DX. In all my reading so far it appears that backup apps either backup the DX to a server somewhere in "The Cloud" or to the SD Card in the phone. Both of those options are not very appealing to me for various reasons.

Does anyone use or know of a backup app that backs up the DX to a Personal Computer attached to the DX via a cable or wireless???

Thanks.

Rooted?

EDIT: Nevermind, it looks like you haven't received it yet. Well, if you are going to be rooted, I suggest Titanium Backup.

So I received my DX, activated it, downloaded "MyBackup" and did a backup to the SD card of applications and data.

When I use the file manager on the DX I see the backup files under "Phone Files".
When I connect a cable to the DX and my laptop and use windows explorer I see
DROIDX with Removable Storage and the folders Albums, dcim, Music, Playlists.
I cannot seem to find the backup files that "MyBackup" created that I want to copy to my laptop.

Any thoughts as to why I am not see the backup files?

FYI, when I click on the folders listed above in windows explorer, I do see my music, photos, movies, etc.

They are under SD/rerware/MyBackup/AllBackup for Personal data and AllAppsBackup for apps backup.

You are pretty safe with the My Backup app, where you can schedule routine, automatic backups. Even if your X "crashes", the SD card would still be there. Worst case scenario (other than theft), pull the SD card and open it through a card reader.

For me, contacts and passwords are the critical items for backup - which I do not only to my pc but also to flash drives.

They are under SD/rerware/MyBackup/AllBackup for Personal data and AllAppsBackup for apps backup.

Unfortunately, when I view the SD Card using Windows Explorer the folders:

SD/rerware/MyBackup/AllBackup for Personal data and AllAppsBackup for apps backup

Do Not Appear. The only folders I see are the ones listed in my previous post.

When I use the "files" app on the DX then I do see some of the folders you mentioned.

This is strange because I do this all the time, here is a shot of my pc during browse to files. are you sure you selected the SD Card Backup Option?

Do you know how to show hidden files on PC? Try unhiding hidden folders under windows and see if some how they were hidden..

Thanks for posting the shots of your PC. Yes, I am sure I used the Local (SD Card) Backup option. If I use the "files" app on the DX I can see the backups I created.

Last night I moved all the apps I had on the SD card back to the phone, copied my music back to my PC and formatted the SD card. Then I ran another backup to the SD Card, saw it in "files" app on the DX but could not see it in Windows Explorer.

I have to double check the settings for displaying hidden folders on my PC running XP.

I do find it odd that when I use the "files" app on the DX it shows the backup files under:

phone files/rerware/MyBackup/AllAppsBackup & AllBackups

I have to wonder if the MyBackup App has some sort of problem with 2.2.
Will have to check with them.

Thank you. This was my problem. Now I can see the contents of my SD card and copy the backups that are stored there.

Sorry about that, I do this as second nature, so my brain didn't think to ask that simple question :).... Guess it also didn't help that I was living off a couple hours sleep :D... Glad Mister869 pointed this out and got you going..
