Looking for a new Email Client

I'm looking for a recommendation from the forum on a new email client.

Currently on my Verizon HTC Incredible I'm running the updated Gmail app for my personal email and in general I had no issues with this app until recently.

Last week I went to Mexico on vacation and to save Money Verizon suggested that I turn off my data plan thru the phone system and rely strictly on WI-FI for accessing my mail. This worked OK for my Touchdown email client for my Exchange Email account but the Gmail email client does not support WI-FI.

Someone on the internet suggested that I use K-9 as my email client but I cannot tell at this point if it works normally via the phone connection and can be alternatively setup to use WI-FI or not.

Bottom line. Can anyone recommand an Android email client that can alternatively use WI-FI to send and receive email?

K9 work fine on wifi only.

Good thing you went to Mexico , becaude Verizon dont work in most of the world. Unless you buy a world phone and then it has a GSM chip in it. Cant swap Sims in a unlock Verizon phone.

K9 work fine on wifi only.

Agreed. I access gmail and two other accounts, and it uses wifi just fine.

One quirk of wifi-on-vacation is that sometimes it looks like you have wifi, but you only have local access, and to got onto the web you have to open a browser and go through something to activate the service. Sometimes that involves paying money, other times it requires you to agree not to do anything nefarious while on their system, and sometimes you just have to look at their home page and click a button. But most of the time I've had wifi "no work" for email clients (several email clients) it's because I hadn't opened a browser to set it up right.

Yes, the WI-FI in the Hotel was that way (looked like it was opened but they wanted a fortune ($77.00 US for a weeks worth of access) which I refused to pay. What I did was take my phone on a few excursions and found some really opened WI-FI and used it.

One other question that I would like to get an answer to now that I know that K-9 will work with WI-FI.....

On Gmail's webmail interface I have things setup so that anything I send or any mail that I reply to appears to be sent from my email address thru frontier.com and I have all of my email sent to my frontier.com email address automatically forwarded to my gmail address so my actual Gmail address is hidden. If I use K-9 will this email address spoofing work as described or is there something that I'll have to configure in K-9?

I don't know for sure, as I don't spoof my gmail account, which I rarely use. But I do spoof my "real" account (on Fastmail) to send "from" a domain I purchased, instead of from fastmail. K-9 has identity management in the options, and it is very easy to set it up to send "from" whatever name you like, at least working with K9 and fastmail.
