I am looking to get a spare battery for my wife's Galaxy S3. The cheapest I have found it is $42.99 for the NFC battery and charger with free shipping. I was wondering if anyone has found a better deal? Thanks!

ebay should have some cheap ones. I got the charger battery combo. Works like a charm.

From what I understand NFC is built into the Samsung battery. So if you want that feature be careful.

Please dont use these fake chinese batteries... they overheat your phone and and some of them start leaking... very dangerous

If you want the NFC capability you aren't going to be seeing 3 for $12-$15 like you do other phones. If you don't care about the NFC part then you should be able to find some cheap ones soon enough.

I bought the Samsung extra battery/charger kit from Sprint store. It was $49.95 and if you buy another item you get 20% off so the battery kit comes to roughly $39.95.

...and it is the NFC battery that is included.
I agree with above, do not buy chinese batteries off ebay.

You're going to get what you pay for with the cheap 3rd party batteries.

This is the way to go IMHO.

I understand that the NFC is built into the battery on the S3. What I don't understand is - can anyone provide a good reason that its in the battery rather than the phone, other than a clever ploy by Samsung to lock you into their batteries so they can sell them at inflated prices?

Mobile fun.com has the OEM Samsung battery for $26.49. I believe they sell genuine Samsung accessories.

most 3rd party batteries are over-rated (ie: mah rating is stated higher than actual and thus is less). In the past I always picked up Anker batteries as they tend to state this correctly. I've bought them on both Amazon and eBay for my S2 with great results under heavy heavy use. Again, you'll be without NFC if you do swap, so if this doesn't mean anything for you then by all means go that way.

I have always used OEM batteries for my devices. Sure, you pay a bit more but I know my battery won't overheat or damage my device. You get what you pay for.

There are original batteries cheap enough online. Many cheaper batteries dont even fit your device or can't even hold a full charge.

I've bought fake chinese batteries for years and never had a problem.

They doing hold a charge as well, but it helps to get through the day.

*swyped from the evo so excuse any typos*
