I have a note 3, which is a great device. However, it's super loaded down with gimmicky features and I don't use the s-pen like I thought I would. I would like a little smaller phone as well so I'm looking at the G2 and the nexus 5. The moto x developer edition has been tempting as well. Thoughts?

I just stated in a Verizon G2 thread that I really like the features of the LG UI because they are actually useful and not gimmicky. If you want a smaller phone, but still have plenty of space, the G2 is the way to go. I honestly don't think I could go back down to a size like the X, but at the same time I think the G2 is about the absolute max size I would feel comfortable with. I had a Nexus and while it's nice I really did miss some of the extras that the manufacturers put in themselves. I would say just go check out the X and the G2 yourself in a store. Verizon has them both out and I think someone said At&t had both of them on display. Of course the Nexus 5 you can't check out, but at least you could get a feel for the other 2.

I was a note 2 user, sold it with every intention of buying the note 3. I used the s-pen a handful of times on the 2 and felt i would try to use it on the 3 with the new air features etc. I bught my G2 as a rental at BB to bridge the gap from selling my note 2 to buying the note 3 on vz. Well, the note is out and I am using my G2. I love this phone. It's blazing fast and compared to my friend's note 3 its faster. I didn't think I could ever go to a smaller phone but im now used to one handed operation like the old days and I love how it isnt a brick in my jeans. You will not be disappointed in my opinion.

I also think the samsung galaxy line has a lot of gimmicky features. The only one I ever use is smart stay. I never use any of the others, they're battery drainers and don't work well at all. I have read from a lot of reviewers that the lg g2 features are useful and you will find yourself turning a lot less of them off and even with them all on they won't drain battery like galaxys features do.

Agreed Although its subjective the moto x is very small hit the droid maxx if its your taste the active notifications and the always on features are interesting. If gimmicky features are are turn off for you then the g2 has that as well. the slide aside I feel is one plus the SOME of the multitasking featuriesare as well, bc screen is just not big enough for it to work to well

That's why you can fade out the Qslide apps. I don't use them very often, but again it's not like they get in my way.

You can turn off the gimmick features on the note 3. If the phone is to big that's one thing, but the gimmick features can be turned off and won't be a issue. Go to YouTube and search LG g2 screen issues and decide for yourself, you can't turn the screen issue on or off.

People keep talking about this so called screen issue. That's not to say that people haven't had some issues, but I have yet to have them. Again I must just be the luckiest person in the world (which is far from true).

I had it on 2 devices. It's intermittent which makes it harder to see it. It's on YouTube if you want to see it.

Other then that, the phone was awesome and I'd probably still have it.

Below is a picture of it, those were drawn as straight lines, the screen was going bonkers.
