Looking to Switch to AT&T, How to Port Number?

I'm currently on T-Mobile and will be switching to AT&T. How do I port my current number over to AT&T? Is it a hard process? I will not be the account holder on AT&T so hopefully that doesn't complicate the process at all. The account holder doesn't live in the same state as I do.

Your best bet might be to either call or go to an AT&T store. I can tell you how the process went about 4 years ago when I moved my inlaws onto my family plan. We all went into an AT&T store, picked out our devices. The clerk rang everything up and started the porting process. For a few hours incoming calls would ring on their old phones, but outgoing calls had to go through their new ones. How are you planning on getting the new phone? I think you'd all have to be together to execute the port if you're the account holder on the tmo line.

Not going to work. You have to be in the same "market".
