loss of cellular network problem on Google Nexus 5

Hi,

I have a Nexus 5 and recently it just stopped seeing mobile network. I have restarted and tried looking up the problem but I have not seen any online.

Please if you have encountered such issues and resolved it, help me with the steps to follow. I have done a reboot and restarted the phone but both solutions were unable to restore cellular service.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, have you considered speaking to your service provider? they might be aware of some issues in your area.

Re: loss of cellular network problem on Google Nexus 5

Yes i have, but they assured the network is good. still cant get signal on my phone, i have tried using my sim on other phones and is working perfectly except on my nexus 5, i think the problem is from the phone not my service provider. kindly assist me on what to do. thanks

Re: loss of cellular network problem on Google Nexus 5

Here's what you are going to do.
i have a nexus 5 too and had this problem too.
first,go to settings/Storage and USB/Cashed data then clean cashed data.
then Go to settings/more/cellular network/prefered network type and Set it as 2G.
then Turn off your phone and wait for about 10 sec then turn it on.
Go to dailer then tap *#*#4636#*#* and click on phone information then scroll down to prefered network type and set it as Gsm only.
then go to settings/cellular network/prefered network type and set it as 3G then go to Network operators click on Search networks, let the phone look for your carrer till it shows up then click on choose automatically.it will show you a message saying "Registered on network"
then you'll have the cellular network back.
i hope i helped.
let me know if this method worked for you too.

Re: loss of cellular network problem on Google Nexus 5

Thanks so much for your help. In process of registering on network it then shows cant connect to the network at moment, try again later. I have been trying it and it still gives me same response, but will update you if it works. if there's any other way, kindly share with me. Thanks

Re: loss of cellular network problem on Google Nexus 5

No no you shouldn't set it to manual.
when you click on network operators then the phone will start looking for network
and finallly it will display this (in the screenshot) and click on choose automatically it will show a message like this ''registered on network''

Re: loss of cellular network problem on Google Nexus 5

Still getting same thing and now my phone gets hot, battery always draining fast

Yeah.i had the same when i lost cellular network.
i used to loose cellular network for 1 day then it comes back
it's supposed to drain fast because of low signal strength.because the handset keeps looking for network.
Look ! Toggle airplane mode on and off repeatedly.
then Remove sim card and reinsert it again
if this deosn't work.
then do the first method i told you about in the first comment.if this didn't work for you,
then,the last solution i'd suggest
is to do a hard reset through recovery.
because the first time i lost signal
hard reset solved the problem
but in the second time,i simply wiped the cashe and set network mode as 2G then turned off my phone waited for 10 sec then turned it on then typed *#*#4636#*#* and set cellular network type as GSm then went to settings/network mode and set it as 3G.
and and then set network operator as choose automatically. and had my cellular network back.
