I am in a heavy 4G area, there is always 4G here so I know it's not down. On both mine and my wife's phone however we have lost 4G after upgrading to GB. It will go to 3G and to 1X but that is all. Anyone else with this problem or have any suggestions? So far I have...

Used the Phone Info program to set it to LTE only - Nothing
Used Verizon's toggle to set it to LTE/CDMA
Powered off phone, pulled SIM waited 2 or 3 minutes and put it all back together.

Going nuts here since I use the 4G mobile Hotspot as an internet connection for my laptop. :-(

Update - I receive new phone from Verizon, boot it up and exactly the same problem, no 4G? The funny thing is, this phone has not GB.

Same thing here in Tampa.

Of course - I've been primarily using 3G for the past few weeks, as staying on LTE has drained my battery before noon, looking for a signal, and constant switching between the 2. On 3G my battery is good nearly all day.

You don't say whether you are rooted or not. If not, I would say call VZW customer service, and let them walk you through all the troubleshooting you have already done (battery and SIM card pull for two minutes, if no good, a factory reset), and get them to escalate. Or, if you are close to a VZW corporate store, go in person.

I had the EXACT same problem in AZ but, after 2 battery pulls and a long drive to run some errands, my 4G finally came back on. Maybe a few pulls and some time might do the trick?

Well I called Verizon and I guess the Gingerbread update borked both mine and my wife's 4G. They had me do battery pull, Sim pull, reset, restore to factory settings. Still 3G or 1X, so they are sending me a refurb phone. Just hard to believe after lots of Google searching, that we were the only ones to experience this.

I am having the same problem. On my 3rd refurb phone and still the same problem. Verizon is saying now it is the GB update and it is a network problem and "they have all hands on deck fixing the problem". I am giving them a couple of more days and them calling them back.

Since the GB update, my T'bolt has been more prone to lose 4G and drop to 3G or 1X and is also slower to return to 4G when in stronger 4G coverage, but 4G has always returned after a battery pull.

Well I have an update, if anyone has any ideas here I am desperate.

Old TBOLT, before GB, 4G works fine
Update to 4G, both my and my wife's phone no longer have 4G.
Verizon sends me a refurb TBolt with 2.2.1, still no 4G???

This is nothing new to me (Quite posibly the first person to have this issue way before the Gingerbread Update) running Rooted, Das BAMF gingerbread sense 3.0 roms, etc. its nothing with the phone. my problem occured after an LTE/network outage a month ago. lost all Data! only use 3G in rev.A mode and in CDMA Auto (PRL). its something with the account. i have swaped sim cards with my Boss's TBOLT and everything works great. Put my sim back in and same problem. got a sim card replaced and same issue. its something with the accounts. the 2 Other TBOLTS on ower family plan are fine thos 2 are stock.

Hmmm that certainly makes sense and is about the only conclusion that is left. What did you do to solve it?

Being new or used issues can happen. And there are times a factory reset fixes the issue. I had to do one two weeks AFTER getting my NEW Thunderbolt.and mine was an upgrade on August 30th.. So, don't think that suggestion is not one to ignore. Or as mentioned could be the SIM card.......and if that's the case Verizon can swap you out one. If the card is bent it can certainly cause a problem..

I haven't fixed it. I Have tried everything. Only thing I haven't done was revert back to a stock RUU. Other than that I have done it all. I need to call verizon high level tech support and see if they can do something to my account or push a network update to me phone or something if possible.

Since GB I have noticed I am more often 3G than before and I am in an area that is 4G. Common sense says it is related to the GB.

I would agree except my new phone doesn't have GB and that won't get 4G either. Just to restate...

My wife and I own two Thunderbolts...Getting 4G has never been a problem
Wife and I update to GB, 4G is instantly gone on both phones. Either 3G or 1X
I do battery pull, SIM Pull, no 4G
I reset back to factory settings, no 4G
Verizon determines I have defective phone and sends me a refurb Thunderbolt
Refurb Thunderbolt has Android 2.2.1 - Eclair and STILL NO 4G.
None of these phones are rooted.

To me it has to be one of two things...
A. - SIM card - Somehow updating to GB on the original phone has caused something to go wrong with the SIM card because it's the only thing that has stayed constant thru this hole mess.
B - My account - I called Verizon and asked if there was a way to "turn off" 4g to my account and they said no.

I have an open ticket with Verizon and they are suppose to hopefully have an answer within the next two days.
