Lost 4g because of rooting?

Hey guys,

My brother recently gave me his HTC One M7 before he went overseas. All he said was that it is rooted, has latest version of ARHD (ROM?), S-ON, and Bootloader unlocked. It is an M7 Developer's Edition 64GB Factory Unlocked, and he had AT&T as carrier.

So I took it to the AT&T store in order to switch from my data plan from iPhone 4S to this phone. The AT&T guy basically said that he couldn't get 4G to work for some reason, and that it was probably caused by rooting and because my device is "Tampered". Is there anything I can do to get 4G back?

I apologize in advance if the fix is super obvious, I have little to no knowledge in these things. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

You do have a at&t sim card in it? Rooting shouldn't cause it not to have 4G. Did your brother have 4G ?
Yeah he took my AT&T sim card and did something to swap it to android or something, then he inserted it into the M7 and tried to get it working. My brother also had AT&T... Im starting to think the AT&T store guy has no idea what he's talking about
