lost contacts after rooting

Just took the plunge into rooting my fascinates to 2.2.1 a few days ago. Love the phone but sick of waiting. I did mine first without a hitch. Inputed my gmail and all my contacts were back on. Without thinking I did nothing on my wifes but root and you guessed it NO CONTACTS. I got a few back via facebook. Are they gone i assume? I really did not even think before rooting. Any suggest?

If they weren't synced with gmail, were they synced with backup assistant?

Had a coworker do the same thing - they did not sync contacts with their gmail account (contacts were not linked to gmail account) and all contacts were saved on the phone.. when she rooted and cleared data - contacts were gone.

checked that already and nothing gmail also verizon back up and nothing.......checked mine and was from my droid x from last year??

I was able to recover some of her contacts that she had saved/linked to her gmail account.. the rest had to be manually input or pulled from her old phone (BB Storm I).

look like I am screwed....had these phones since first day of release....sold the old phone via ebay.....inputing manually now.....

I feel your pain.. I re-entered 157 contacts for my coworker - I did it online via her gmail account so there was no way she would not have them backed up..

Did part of it as an export form Outlook and imported the contacts via the settings option in her gmail contacts.
