Lost Contacts

Logged into the google based hangouts app. Realized it wasn't what I thought it was and I want out. According to my phone, I don't have any contacts. I can't find them, I did at one point see them somewhere in google ( I don't know where). I just want to go back to the way things were please.

As long as you had sync turned on and signed in with your Gmail account your contacts should sync back up.
