Just wanted to make sure others knew about theexperimental controls in the browser. It completely frees up the screen and really makes sense once you race the 5 minute or learning curve. Really do like them a lot for a tablet.

I am so sold on the Xoom after a day with it, the controls are awsome and feel very natural after only a short time. The voice search is so well done, add these controls and ill be skipping the iPad 2 which i was considering coming feom the iPad. The Xoom and Honeycomb have won me over. Simply feels how a tablet browser and OS should be. Android has come a long way in a very short time.

Kudos to Google.

To answer what they do.. basically a small swipe from either side of the screen and a arc type menu pops up giving you all the basic contols. Forward, back, favs add tab, pull up url boc etc. So no matter how you hold the Xoom the controls are literally at any fingertip you want. Brilliant design.

Thanks for the heads up on the experimental controls, I didn't know they existed until I read your post. The Xoom just gets better and better as I find out more about it.

the only downside to the experimental controls on the xoom are that I keep trying to do them on my phone now..... but as far as the xoom goes I guess that's a good problem!

Is there a way to close tabs with the quick controls? That was the only thing I didn't like about them

When I opened a second tab with the + it added the tab bar back to the top of the screen. I could then switch between tabs quickly or close one with the X.

Very buggy. Sometimes it will be fullscreen and other times it will show tabs...or maybe I am missing the fullscreen toggle?

When only one browser screen is open its fullscreen. Add a tab and they show up top. Haven't figured out how to go fullscreen with tabs.

What am I missing here? I swipe and swipe from either side and those things never show up. Do you need to activate them with a setting?

Yes open the browser and go into settings. Click on labs and select quick controls. To get the dials to come out swipe in from the outside of the screen and hold down. Then move up and down and let go to select the options.

Tried this out while playing with a display unit today. Very intuitive for browser operation. It will be especially good for "lap browsing" while on the couch or something. Basically meaning that you can keep both hands holding the tablet while reading a web article or something and not have to resort to constantly straining your wrist muscle when you go to hold it with one hand.

Glad I could clue some people in on something! It was actually in the original tips & tricks thread which seems to have disappeared. Been using it since release date pretty much, but was teaching the lady how to use the xoom and sawhow quickly she grasped that idea and how intuitive it apparently really is even for non tech people. Thought I would pass it on.

Thank you! And yes it's a cool feature.

Am I the only one who experiences problems with this feature? I absolutely love it but my browser force closes on me after a while. Consistently. It only goes back to normal after I disable this feature. :(
