LOVE this phone, but...

I just got this phone a couple of weeks ago as my iPhone 4S fell a measly 4 feet and shattered, on the eve of my free upgrade date. Good timing there.
I've noticed however, that the image quality on social platforms, namely Facebook and (mostly) Instagram, is really, really bad when uploading from this phone. I've turned off 'High quality image processing' on Instagram, but there doesn't appear to be a fix otherwise for Instagram, and I've not seen much mention of the issue with Facebook.
I often create images on my laptop that I then have to post from my phone onto Instagram, and the poor quality (jagged lines, distorted type, shifts in color from the original file) is not going to fly for me. I see a similar issue when just posting to Facebook.
Anyone experienced any other fixes for the quality problem on Instagram? I'm a heavy Instagram user, I'm getting really frustrated that the issue that was prevalent back in 2012, when I had my last Android phone, is still the biggest drag on the platform for me today.

1) Both sites compress large pictures. That can lead to all the things you're seeing. Upload a small picture (640X480 or smaller) and see what it looks like. (I assume that you either use the phone as a hotspot for the laptop or copy the files directly from the laptop to the phone. Using a "sync program" can do strange things to pictures.)

2) The apps may be at fault. Go to the sites with a web browser. If the pictures look okay there, blame the apps. (To be kind [and not get banned from this site], the Facebook isn't the best-written app I've ever seen, and I've written more programs than I care to count - but not anything like that.)

If you are using the Facebook mobile app, try going to Facebook with your browser instead of using the app on your. You should be able to post in original format from there.
