So I don't think I have that may apps installed. I would say what I have is average. I have moved everything that is allowed to be on the SD card to the SD card. But I am being told that I am low on internal space. Besides deleting apps, is there anything else I can do?

as previously stated in several "memory" threads -

1. delete all of your old SMS/MMS text messages. received, sent, drafts, ALL of them.
2. on all of your email clients (Gmail, HTC Mail, etc.) - set up sync to sync folders no longer than 4 days in the past. also - empty the trash folders.
3. clear the cache of your Apps as possible.
4. delete unnecessary apps as possible.

don't be a hoarder. devices have a finite amount of storage and you have infinite desires.

good luck.

Look at the amount of DATA in the HTC mail app. This has been the culprit for many HTC EVO 4G owners. I knew someone showing 200 megabytes! Facebook is also a whore for keeping a lot of data on your phone in cache. Cleaning your cache out will help you temporarily, but if you just do a factory reset and avoid using the HTC Mail app and you should see a big difference.

Which is the HTC Mail?
How do I clear cache for applications?
On the manage application screen in settings, at the bottom it says 375MB used and 53MB free. Seems odd. That only adds up to 428MB. I thought the phone has 1GB internal space. 425MB isn't even half.

I might need to do a factory reset. I have been having other problems as well since I got gingerbread. If I decide to do this, is there anywhere I can find a set of instructions for backing things up, before I do it? I assume I would need to write down every app I have and download and restore them all? Can I use app-brain for that? Does amazon take care of the ones I got from them?

Help please.

HTC mail is the mail app that came pre-installed on the phone. Under applications, it's called MAIL.

One of the quickest ways to clear cache on EVO is to download Android assistant and then click on tools and cache cleaner.

As for the Factory Reset, you can Google it, Wikipedia it, call the Sprint store, etc. It's been awhile since I've done it and wouldn't want to skip a step, but as I recall it was REALLY easy. You'll have to re-install all of your apps because the reset takes you back to the day you got the phone. As for your SD card, back it up to your PC.

The factory reset is under Menu>Settings>SD & phone storage. Just follow the directions. All your information on the SD will remain, but your downloaded apps will disappear. Just go to the Apps Market (or App Brain) and they keep a list of all the apps you have installed on your device. Just set aside a couple of hours to do all of it. You have to re-register all of your account information for Facebook, GMail, etc.

Hope this helps

If you need to keep your sms/chat messages, use an app like sms+ in the market which will save them in gmail so you don't have to keep them on your device taking precious space

although many don't believe it, there absolute is a memory suck on the HTC Evo. it's a damned shame HTC didn't take the steps to fix it. it basically took what i felt was the most wonderful phone ever, and turned it into something i think is a piece of annoying crap.
