Why is the Vivids Quadrant score (1900 to 2100) alot lower when compared to phones that use the same Snapdragon S3 chip, like the Skyrocket?

I don't give a rat's rump about the benchmark scores. My Vivid is hella fast, doesn't bog down, and gets everything done that I've asked of it. Let the geekerati go on about benchmarks. All I care about is whether it does what I want it to do, as fast as I want it to do it, when I want it to do it. So far, mine does.

1) Screen resolution is higher on the Vivid, which gimps its score significantly
2) I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung has discovered a way to game the test. There's no way a Qualcomm S3 can be hitting scores as high as the Exynos without trickery.

I would agree that the benchmark scores don't really mean a whole lot. I put more stock in how the phone performs in real word use. I had the EVO 4G and it didn't show well inm thr brnchmarks but it was extremely fast. The only area it sucked was with the GPU. Everything else was very smooth. This phone is way better than the EVO, so I would imagine it is lightning fast.

Scores are low but does it lag when watching a downloaded or streaming movies?

My first quote! (sort of) ;)

And what he said. Benchmarks are numbers. We have, as a user base, gotten to the point where the phone is no longer the problem, the network bottleneck is.

Also, to OP's question, the S3 is underclocked on the Vivid (1.2 GHz vs. 1.5), which is probably a good chunk of the test score also. I have had the phone since shortly after launch, and have had zero problems with video, even when I was up in San Antonio on LTE.

My skyrocket is scoring 3700 stock, I've been hearing Sammy may be using some trickery, but I won't believe it til I see it...my phone is extremely fast and compared to the s2 in other benchmarks like cf-bench and Antutu, it beats it or is on par...regardless...I'd like to see if Sammy is messing with the scores...

Of course they are. No way, no how the S3 in the skyrocket is as fast as the Exynos. Whatever they're doing, its tricking quadrant.

I thought the upgrade to ICS would allow the use of the 2nd processor.. so I did a test before and after the upgrade.... basically no real change. I noticed other there is a good change if it skip the mem test with it. I have to agree with the other though.. this thing is fast and I never had an bog down issue.

before.

Numbers from an app don't help me determine how fast my phone opens programs, how little it stutters or how well it can handle games. I let my usage do that :)

I agree^ no complaints, and as for the Vivid, its still pretty dang good in the real world, I haven't heard anything bad about it performance wise
