Sorry if this has been discussed before:

LTE recently got turned on in my area. I was excited until my phone started draining almost two times faster than it had been! This is without heavy use at all. The other big issue, and the reason I started this thread, is that my phone is now always hot near the top of the screen and on the back near the top! Does this happen for other people?

Thanks

The location where is is getting hot is where the radios are. I've had mine get hot there when in 3G fringe areas and the radios are useing max power.

Mine is the international version, selected precisely because I live in an area where we still don't have LTE, and don't expect it for a couple years, but would be on the fringe either way.

Ey bro, think about it. Would you rather have a shorter battery life.? Or a data connection thats slow.? As crap..

HSPA+ last night in my area. Pretty snappy. Not sure faster on a phone is really nessacary....OK yes it is but this will get me through ha ha ha.

My point.! Then other people complain(not accusing anyone) but they complain them not getting at LEAST 10Mbs is slow. Im like wtf.? Anything over 1 is fast lol. I have lte in my area, and am thankfull for it. Cause ill be using it for both school work and my entertainment. Im getting about 12Mb down and 9up on average. To me.? Thats plentttty fast.

I get ten to twelve all day on hspa+ here in metro Detroit. Verizon lte here in metro is seeing 40 to 50 mbps downloads in some areas. Truly insane

LTE is a beast on my phone and it doesn't eat the battery so far I've gotten 22hrs still have 32% battery left.

Hspa is 3+ here and I live a half a mile from a tower I can stand in my yard and see it so yea sometimes streaming YouTube sucks but for
Apps fast but I'm a net flux and YouTube person

INSPIRE AOKP ICE COLD SANDWICH ROM ;)

Yeah, I noticed the same thing on my One X when LTE went live here in Syracuse. At first I didn't think my battery was affected by it. But that was because I'm usually on wifi. Then I used it a few times without the wifi and I really noticed the rapid battery drain!

On Verizon LTE phones, you can usually turn off LTE and force them to use CDMA. Is there a way to turn off LTE on the One X and force it to use the old "4G". I agree with others here that the HSPA/4G was plenty fast for me...
