Sorry if this is a dumb question.....I live in a 3G only area. I had installed LTE OnOff and set my phone for CDMA auto PRL as suggested. Now that I have installed the update, do I keep that setting? Thanks for your help!!

Sorry, I may have worded that incorrectly...I wasn't sure if I should leave it on CDMA auto PRL or change it back to CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto after the update. Was the update suppose to fix the need for turning off the 4G? Thanks.

No one really kmows till you try. It may be better, but then again if you have no 4G in your area sticking with 3G will probably still be your best bet from a battery conservation pointbof view.

Thanks, Robrecht

I have been toggled to 3G all day, I just looked for the update and the phone is currently downloading.

It doesnt seem to matter if you are Toggled down to 3G.

The default is CDMA +LTE EvDo auto. Mine has been there before and after the update with no issues. Presumably, the update makes 3G connections (and changes between 3G/4G) "more stable". So, I'd set it back to the default and see how it goes.

just try it out and see how it goes. i'd keep it in the default since if you go somewhere with 4g, you can enjoy it w/o having to remember to change the setting.

As I have stated in a previous post, this is how the settings break down:

CDMA Auto: Any 2G/3G connection based upon PRL (preferred roaming list)
CDMA only: Only 2G (1xRTT) connection. Expect slow data speeds.
EV-DO only: Only 3G (EV-DO) connection. Expect voice/SMS issues.
CDMA + LTE/EV-DO Auto: Uses any 2G/3G/4G connection. Default setting.

Set this to either CDMA Auto or CDMA + LTE/EV-DO Auto unless attempting the 1xRTT fix for downloading the OTA update.

The only way to reliably disable the 4G while keeping all other services is to set it to CDMA Auto.
