I need help.
My phone shows I have only 2.8 gb available of 25.5 gb storage. However from file explorer, only 13.61 is used (stock android also shows approximately this amount used as well).

Screens attached. Cleaned cache numerous times... I've deleted the thumbsdata3 files (1.7 gb each), and looked through all folders on the sd card and couldn't find any hidden caches. There's no LOST.DIR that I can find either.
Searches showed others with this problem and factory reset was inconsistent. I'd rather not factory reset as my phone isn't rooted, but maybe there's an easy way to retain all files/settings than years ago when I last reset.
Any ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! Use a file manager app to look around for an .obb directory, and see if there are any leftover .obb files from apps you may have deleted. .obb files are often very big, and don't always get removed when you uninstall an app (or they might be leftover from an unsuccessful installation).

Hi,
I found three obb folders containing 3 files for a total of 60mb (I had "show hidden files" selected). Thx for the advice though!

What does it say in Settings>Storage? Is there a lot of space used up by Misc?
