M8 Black Screen, But Seems To Be Running?

I recently acquired a M8 with a perpetual black screen. The charge light works, but everything else is externally dead. I can power up the device and hear the intro music, and can use Sync to retrieve data, even take screen shots and import them to see where I am.
I am at a loss on how to remedy this. I have tried doing a hard reset and counting the clicks down to get to the reset menu, but without the screen to tell where I am I have no clue if I am in the right place or if its resetting and not working.
Any ideas?

Did you try to hold the power and volume up buttons for 10 seconds ( that should restart your M8 to normal )

Well, it worked for me when I got the black screen issue on my M8, but I don't know if it will work for you or not.

Yes I have tried power/up for 10 seconds, power/down for 10 seconds, and 3 button for 2 mins.

On power/up it powers off and restarts, I get the intro music but no display.

You might have a damaged display. Do you have a local repair shop nearby that can look at it?

No not really. Any recommendations on reputable places I can send it?
This phone came with no history, I just happened to flip it over and noticed some pink on the water indicator. It might have gotten wet at some point.

I am not sure, as I don't know where you are located. Try searching on Maps/Google and looking closely at reviews. Either that, or contacting HTC?
