M8 Mail issues since MM update

I've been having email issues with my M8 since updating to MM. I can add an address and subject but the second I touch into the message body area to write a message I get "Mail has stopped unexpectedly". Have tried reboots and clearing the cache.

Pretty clueless about this type of thing, any help is appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! Did you clear the Mail app's cache, or the system cache partition?

I have the same problem in the last couple of days but it's not directly linked to an OS update - I'd hoped the last one might fix it but I'm not even sure whether that was an Android update (6.0) or an HTC Sense update (7.0)
Mine's an M8, software number currently 6.12.161.4, and I have exactly the same symptoms - trying to enter anything in a reply message body closes the client...

I've tried that. Now the client closes when I hit the reply button! Help!

Ok, and you also tried wiping the Mail app's cache/data?

EDIT: Saw another thread where somebody mentioned the latest Android System Webview update causing problems with the Mail app. Try uninstalling updates to that app in Settings>Apps>All.

Brilliant! Thank you - removing those updates restores the reply function in mail.
