magnets for sview

So, I bought a generic s view Case on eBay and the view doesn't change when the cover is closed.. i know it's very likely an issue with it being a cheap knockoff but I just wanted to be sure there wasn't an issue with the phone too because I saw a video that showed the note3 reacting to the magnets in the iPad and tried that but my phone didn't change view. Is there a way to test out whether the magnets that activate s view are actually working? I'm able to swipe through the Window and there is definitely a magnet in the case because it is attracted to the metal. Thanks
