Major Battery Drain After Latest Google Maps Update?

Maybe it is a coincidence, maybe not. But ever since I updated the Google Maps, my Nexus loses about 10% of juice per hour. That includes overnight with synch turned off, WiFi off during sleep unless plugged in. I also noticed that GM is running all the time after a boot-up. Previous to the GM update, my battery life seemed to have stabilized into pretty reasonable territory, including about 1% drain per hour overnight. I force close it and my battery seems to go back to the 1% drain rate when the device is not in use.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Edit: Force closing from apps menu doesn't suffice. Maps simply appears to restart. But, again, not sure if the battery drain issue is fixed with the FC or if it is related in any way.

Have you let it "find" you? I know it'll be pesky until you use it once, and then for some reason it stops being a pain in the ass.

I have used it a couple times since the update. I suppose no one else has encountered this issue yet but the Android OS seems to have shot up in "keep awake" stats since the update.

Have you monitored the stats under battery use? There's a lot of great information to be gleaned from there. I use GMaps quite a bit, but when I go a few days without it, I see no extraneous drain.

I had that issue last thursday. I used Nav for 2 hours and the phone dropped from 95% to 40% in that 2 hour time period. Normally it would drop down to 65%. Android OS was the major drain with the screen being second at 10%. I haven't had the issue since then but I also haven't used Nav since then.

Well my phone has only been off the charger for a little less than 2 hours, and it has kept my phone in awake state for almost 7 minutes.... disabling a ton of the new GPS triggers in Google NOW has helped but its still pretty high up there.....

to put it in perspective prior to the maps update, it would NEVER trigger awake for more than about 20-30 seconds in an entire DAY

I've had the same problem with GM running in the background regardless of what I do. For me; seems like the problem manifested itself even prior to the last update. This is frustrating since I've battled battery life problems on this phone from the beginning.

iv been getting issues where after i get directions once it works fine. then if i get new directions it wont tell me how long the trip is or any info but the map route and wont give me options to use navigation( i seem to have to uninstall and re-install the updates to get it to work again..but then it just loops back to the same issue). also I catch my gps icon coming on and off when my phone is in my pocket. I have done factory resets and the gps coming on and using battery randomly still keeps happening..
