Making Favorite contacts more prominent?

I'm trying to help a friend remotely with his Galaxy S, which is a stock phone on a European network, not an ATT-specific release. Hopefully that is irrelevant. I don't have access to the device or even anything with Touchwiz, so be warned.

Anyway, he needs to have his contact favorites displayed as prominently and efficiently as possible, similar to his iPhone. My suggestion of devoting a screen with icons of individual contacts was shot down. He needs the Favorites dialer screen pinned so that's the first thing he sees.

Any suggestions?

There are contact widgets that can be downloaded free from the Market that will organize them in a manner of his choosing.

It is very likely that his "stock" (or OEM) contacts app will let him click the star inside the contacts info screen. It goes like this - Go to the contacts app open a contact, check the unchecked star next to their name. Now he can add a folder by long pressing a blank spot on any home screen and selecting the "Starred Contacts" folder and placing it wherever he likes.

Some examples of apps (I'm not making any claims to their usefulness- I don't use them)

Something like this could very well solve all of his contact issues- I will say it is my experience that Go Dev Team makes some solid apps.

Also, it's been a while since I've been on Touchwiz but I'm pretty sure TW has a contact widget of it's own built in. Just like the folders described above, he can long touch on a home screen and click "Widgets" and see if there is one for contacts.
