making gingerbread update notification go away

I've been rooted/s-off for a long time now, and have tried many roms (CM, Nils, etc) trying to find one that suited me. At some point, I settled on rooted stock froyo. The only thing that kills me is the silly update notification for the gingerbread OTA. Having tried it out for a week or two in the past, I know that I want nothing to do with it. I'm even pretty sure the update won't work for me since I'm rooted. But I'm constantly bombarded with this update notification.

Is there any way to disable it?

The Tip box in this post explains how to disable the OTA Notification:

Or you could load one of the Rooted OTA's that are available and then you would have Stock Rooted Gingerbread instead of Froyo.
