Man even MKBHD has to stretch for the FPS on the S8 with his huge hands!

I read that the fingerprint scanner was a last minute decision. Samsung was all set to have the fingerprint scanner imbedded into the display. However as production got closer, they found that the tech wasn't ready. That was apparently the only open spot they could put it at the last minute.

I was thinking and posted on another thread... what about apps like Citi that use FPS or bank apps or any apps that do not support Retina? Samsung pay?

Eh, you don't have to use it. Face recognition works much better.

That's actually a good point but having to resort to fingerprint for a few apps occasionally isn't as bad as having to reach for it every single time you want to unlock your phone.

In that case I think the Iris scanner should be a good enough work around for me.

I don't know about the rest of you but I use smart lock to a point where I very rarely have to do anything except press the home button.

I only use smartlock at home. I don't want anyone to be able to unlock my phone at work if I leave it sitting around.

I'm sure the devs will have the iris scan APIs to incorporate into their apps eventually. Samsung Pay should have iris scan recognition out of the box. The fingerprint scanner is not in an idea place, but it's not like it's unsuable.
