Manual upgrade to lollipop

My phone had a branded 4.3 from Claro Ecuador, manually upgraded with Odin to official firmware Kit kat 4.4.2 unbranded from Trinidad and Tobago last year, no problems all perfect, my concern is if I do the same with official lollipop firmware from Russia, can I ruin my modem or brick my phone since a firmware from Russia may use different modem?
