Android Central Question

I'm thinking normal text with alphanumeric characters only get through but maybe text attached to a picture will show this message.

Group messages and messages with photos are sent as MMS messages.
Normally this requires a mobile data connection, not wifi, depending on the messaging app.
Messages that are pure text and to only one recipient sometimes work on wifi, depending on the messaging app.

If this is the case for you, you can temporarily turn off the wifi to get the mobile data turned back on.
Or, in the "developer settings" you can set the mobile data to be "always on even with wifi". (I do this.)

If you wait too long to download the MMS messages, they will expire and be discarded from your carrier's server.

Welcome to Android Central! If your mobile data connection seems normal, then check your APN settings to make sure they're correct for your carrier.
