Maps keeping device awake - killing battery

For whatever reason my S4 keeps dying on me randomly. I've discovered that Maps is using like 40-60% of my battery and keeps the device awake even though I haven't opened maps or used it at all. I have since blocked the Keep Awake permission for Maps with App Ops, but the problem didn't go away. What could be causing this? I have maps on a S5 and that has no problems.

Hi there ITenseI

Going to pass this on to some really smart folks. See if we can get you sorted out!

Have you tried clearing the cache for Maps?

Settings> Device> Applications> Application Manager> Scroll over to "all"> Scroll down to "Maps" Clear Data and Cache.

You can also try disabling/reinabling Maps in application manager as well. Uninstall updates is another option.

Compliments of one of our other Ambassadors: Tourbound129, if this works!!

See if that helps!

Thanks Chris,

I have tried clearing the cache and data. First thing I did. I'm a bit reluctant to disable it completely, but if there's no other solution I will have to do that. I figured simply blocking the keep awake permission using App Ops should be enough, but it didn't work for some reason.
