Maps on Galaxy S5 routes to take partial surface even though highway is wide open and the color is green, why is it doing this?

Maps on Galaxy S5 routs to take partial surface even though highway is wide open and color is green

Purchased Galaxy S5 and the mapping is kind of off. For a week now, I tried to route from home to work (and vice versa), and it routes me to take partial street, when highway is completely open and "green". Remind you that this specific freeway I take is pretty much open & doesn't have a lot of traffic. It's especially wide open at 6:45am. Detection for accidents/road work appears to be super sensitive. If there is an off shoulder light road work, it completely avoids passing through that area, even though the color is “green”. 2 times I completely disregarded Google maps and zipped through with no issues/traffic.

Most GPS devices and apps are like that. If you know the area, and you're sure there's no overturned oil tanker or something else that's going to cause a backup, take your route and the app will recalculate. (Maps constantly sends me on the main route with a traffic light on every corner, instead of a secondary route with 3 lights for the entire trip. Once I turn away from the main road, it routes me to the secondary route.)
