Maps using 87% battery

When I check what been using my battery it shows maps using 87% although I haven't been using maps and my gps is turned off. Any ideas?

How long has it been unplugged? Maps sometimes runs in the background on it's own.

If it's only been unplugged a half hour or so that could be normal.

It's been unplugged for over 6 hours. And I killed maps using atk.

The battery use percentages are not always accurate. Is your battery draining faster than normal? Do you use the Maps Live Wallpaper?

Battery usage is ok. Don't have any live wallpaper active.

that's stragne. have you actually been using google maps a lot today? normally when google maps is sent to the background it uses no cpu and just sits there idle. when you have latitude enabled, it is also efficient and will guesstimate you location every half hour or so via cell tower triangulation, then turns itself back off until the next update it does.

what is your google maps usage time from the battery menu?

I had the same issue a few days ago. Only had Maps open for a few minutes. Closed it. Noticed significant battery drain and checked and found maps was using over 80%. Rebooted the phone and it went back to normal.

Make sure you aren't opted into the Latitude thingy in maps. I did it once, just to see, and it was constantly polling my GPS to update position. Seems a bit buggy.

Sounds like the "battery use" screen is just reporting the usage incorrectly. I've seen it happen numerous times on my EVO.
