market notifications

For some reason my market notifications for updates don't seem to work right...I don't have a task killer running or anything and I leave the market open in the background but it never tells me I have updates...I have to open the downloads section and then sometimes I will get notified but only after I've seen that the updates are available. Anyone else have this issue or a possible fix?

I have the same issue and I'm not using a task killer either.
