I'd like to start a thread about available accessories for our Marquee.

I'll start with good news. Since our Marquee is a physical clone of the Optimus Black, all of those available accessories should work without issue for us. Since the Opti Black has been out for a while, that means lots of choices for us.

I have already ordered a Zagg screen protector which I recieved and installed today. It fits perfectly.

I have also ordered a hard rubber case from ebay (HARD RUBBER CASE COVER LG OPTIMUS BLACK P970 BLACK | eBay). It supposedly shipped two day ago and should be here by 10/27. I'll report when I recieve it.

Marquee owners, please share your experience with any accessory you buy.

I ordered this case & screen protector (yes, it was a bit $$ but I am hoping worth it).
USA GEAR Sleek Impact-Resistant Protective Case for Sprint LG Marquee | eBay

LG Marquee / Optimus Black Anti-Glare Screen Protector + PET

I have not received either yet but will follow up when i do.

On a separate (but related) note I just wanted to thank you (tcaudill01) for all of your work & effort over the last week.

I received my phone last night (2 actually, 1 for me & 1 for my wife)...so far so good. I came from a TP2 so it might take a bit to get used to (both from not having a keyboard & going from WM to Andriod) but the phones seem to be working just fine. I have not had reception or screen response issues. I look forward to contributing to these forums w/ you.

Wow, I really like that USA Gear case. If the quality matches the price, I might be interested in upgrading. Being that the one I ordered was less than $4, I don't have high hopes that the quality will be top of the line.

You are welcome and I am glad to be able to help everyone. I look forward to your contributions and any help you can provide.

I have a new post about deodexing our base ROM to make it acceptable for theming/modding. Hopefully this will all be the start of some good things for us.

just to follow up. I received both items today. The case is great. It is not a 'hard' plastic but not as soft as silicone either. It's somewhat in between, like a firm rubber material. It is very similar to the case I had for my TP2. If it drops the case will not break. imo, it is worth the $20.00.

screen protector arrived as well. It fits perfectly & is exactly as described....BUT I do not like the way it feels as it doesn't allow for as well of a grip between my finger & the screen, it's too smooth. I may end up taking it off.

I have tried many different types of cases over the years for different phones. Maybe this will help…

Rubberized hard cases offer better than average grip and phone protection as long as debris does not get between the case and the phone itself...but this has always been the problem for me. I found that these cases always caused pitting in my phones because I keep my phone in my pocket and inevitably wind up with pitting from dirt or what-not getting between the phone and the case. Many of these did more damage than they were worth. They were also prone to breaking in a bad fall...even the more expensive seidio ones.

The silicone cases alleviated the pitting problem of the hard case because it was softer and allowed for some flexibility…but this was also a problem. Silicone, while great for ease of fit, superior grip, and variety of colors was a bit TOO flexible. I found it just didn’t offer the protection I was looking for. The grip is better than anything else, but it too became a problem…it would get stuck in my pocket. I found that in my rush to answer my call, it would get caught and even cause me to fumble the phone. Too much grip, not enough protection from falls IMO.

The best solution I have found or my phones comes from a material that I feel splits the difference between the two. Its not as grippy as the silicone, but its got more grip than the rubberized cases. Its not so soft that it easily pulls off the phone, and not so hard that some debris between it and the phone will cause pitting. I have heard many different names for the material, but the one that seems to stand out the most is “TPU”. Sellers use the terms “premium silicone”, “rubberized silicone”, “hybrid TPU”, “hybrid gel”, “TPU rubber”, “durable high quality silicone”, “perfect mix of hard and soft silicone” etc.. you get the point. But TPU seems to be what the material is actually called. This has been the best material for my phones for all around use. Is there a downside? The only downside was that most of the early ones I found were…well…ugly. They had some sort of diamond shape imprinted on them and looked crappy. They have since come out with some nicer ones I will link both at the bottom…

The link that nosajsam provided above is a case made out of TPU material. I only know this because I got to see it.

Here are a few more…

and HERE

BLUE ONE this is one of those with the diamond shape...

hope this helps...

Just personal opinions. I do not buy cases. I simply believe that cell phones are designed to be hold by bare hands. But I do need a nice holder for GPS function. Any recommendations?
