Marquee battery life

Should anyone else in the world actually have a Marquee and have a moment, please post with a couple of notes about your experiences with battery life using the Marquee.

My experience is pretty bad. With almost no use for voice calls and running very lean in terms of wifi/background data and very little browsing/multimedia use, I'm only getting about 12 hours out of a full charge. Most battery usage seems to be going into the cell radio from what I can tell by turning off other power consumers.

I have a replacement coming, and I'll follow up with experience with that unit.

I have had mine for three days now and battery life is comparable to the Captivate I had with AT&T which was 18 to 20 hours. I achieve this by turning off wifi (except when needed), GPS, auto sync, and keeping the screen at less than 30% brightness.
Has anyone figured out how to root this thing? So far that is my only real complaint...... no root access.

To follow up as promised, I got my replacement unit and the signal reception and battery life do seem to be marginally better. Happily, with the replacement and a power saving app from the market, I've been able to get my battery life up to the point where I won't have to charge during the day with normal usage, even though I'm in a pretty poor reception area. As the leaves continue to fall, I will also have better signal in the winter. Woot. Something good about winter.
