Marshmallow broke split screen?

Updated to Marshmallow on Verizon a couple days ago - so far so good, except split window doesn't seem to work as well as it used to? If I have a bunch of chrome tabs open, for instance, and I move one tab to split mode I no longer see the list of open apps and tabs to move to the lower split window like in Lollipop. If I swipe over to the Chrome icon in the apps list and tap it, it doesn't place a currently open tab in the second split window, but rather a new tab. Is there a way to access the currently open tabs/apps for split screen like in Lollipop, or is that just gone now?
