My s5 mini has recently updated to Marshmallow (Android 6.0.1). Since then the flash for the camera does not work and the torch widget also does not work. I have exhausted solutions found on line apart from carrying out a factory reset which I am reluctant to do.

Any suggestions welcome!

Welcome to Android Central! Try wiping the cache partition: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28492. If that doesn't help, then see if the problem persists in Safe Mode: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28456

Thanks for this. Neither option resolved the problem. :- The torch did work briefly a week or so ago but it would not switch off. When I then restarted the phone it did not switch on again. I assume there is a conflict with another app but I can't determine which one!!

It doesn't work at all in Safe Mode? If it doesn't, then it's unlikely to be a conflict with one the apps you installed, since Safe Mode should have disabled them. I suppose it's possible a preinstalled app from Samsung might be conflicting, but that's pretty unusual.

SOLVED :)

I use HideCallerID to block my number to numbers not in my contact list. I found that this had changed to block numbers IN my contact list. When I corrected this the torch and flash started working properly. Weird!!
