"One of the reasons I feel smartwatches are redundant."
If they were redundant, they wouldn't be selling like gang-busters. I have a Martian Notifier and it is far from redundant for me.
*First, most folks wear a watch on their wrist anyway, for the time (day, date, etc on some). So why not have it help you decide if you need to pull out your phone from a pocket or purse just to find, in most cases, it wasn't necessary for your attention now. This watch lets you see who's calling, what is being text, cal/task events you set, or any other app notification you have set, all with a 'silent' vibration on your wrist.
*Second, ever miss an important call/message because you didn't here the ring or feel the vibration, then don't find out till it may be too late to respond. This watch vibrates on your wrist with each ring cadence, while scrolling the name of the caller. Vibrate intensity is settable and quite strong at its highest.
*Third, wouldn't you like to know if you have left home, or wandered away from anywhere, and left your phone behind by mistake. This watch vibrates your wrist and scrolls "Out of Range" as soon as your Bluetooth Phone Signal is lost.
*Forth, how often have you left your phone somewhere at home and can't locate it. You can select the "Find Phone" feature on this watch and it will ring your phone repeatedly. No more tearing the house apart when you need to leave in a hurry...with your phone.
I could go on. Couldn't live without my Notifier, now that I have had the "pleasure" of living with it for 6mo. Hope this helps.
