Hi. What is the maximum storage capacity on MicroSD cards that the shield will read? 32GB or 64GB? 128GB? I'm thinking of holding out for a 128gb Sandisk.

64gb is the largest I've seen them come in, but I'm sure the 128gb ones are around the corner.

Welcome to the forums!

SDHC SD cards are limited to 32 GB. SDXC SD cards have a theoretical limit of 2 TB, however, the largest I have seen is 64. I think 128 GB is current maximum for Sd cards, not micro.

SHIELD will support 64gb cards. Any higher and I can't say for sure.

The Verge said that any microSD over 32GB requires being formatted NTFS via a PC. Is this true? Does this mean that the 32GB or smaller are just normal FAT32?

I don't have a smaller capacity here to test with, unfortunately.

I'm pretty sure that it's a limitation of the file system though, so what you said would be true. Don't quote me on that, though. I have no way to test.

So it's possible to move apps to the SD card? Before I go buy a card I wanted to find out.

Well turns out with the new update you can move some apps and some data. I was able to move Asphalt 8 and Madden almost completely to SD card. The app of Bard's Tale, but not most of the data. Freed up a lot of space. This is with a 32 GB class 10 card.
