According to Engadget some radioshacks will be launching on may 30th.. Read Carefully...

While there's certainly plenty to love about HTC's EVO 4G, that 4G in the title is certainly one of the major draws. We're guessing it'll be a little easier to sell the things if customers can experience the wonders of WiMAX for themselves, so that's probably why RadioShack is (according to our tipster) installing these Clearwire WiMAX repeaters in at least some of its stores ahead of the May 30 launch of the phone there. This will effectively turn The Shack into 4G hotspots and, while we're not sure of the range of these bad boys, this is a good thing even if it extends the reach of WiMAX just a few feet further into our lives. Another picture after the break.

Am I just looking too far into this, or reading this wrong, or did I read this correctly?

Hmm.. good eye. I would think it's pretty hard to get June 4th and May 30th confused with eachother but who knows. Shoot him an email or comment on it in the comments section.. see what he says. ha

I noticed that too but it's the first I've heard of it. I'm assuming it is a honest mistake?

I would be really suprised if they bump it up after all the promotional material they have paid for. Also, since this is only in one line of an Engadget story, I am inclined to believe that it is a mistake.

One more thought maybe that they are to have the WiMax repeaters in RadioShack by May 30th to make sure it is running prior to June 4th. Come to think of it, this is the only explanation, and if this is the case, Engadget needs new editors/proof readers.

Please make it be true

I wish it was true. Sprint usually launches there phones on Sundays, like May 30th... This is the first time in a LONG WHILE that they've launched a phone on a Friday (June 4th). In fact, I dont think I can remember a time that they have launched a significant phone on a Friday..

a Friday launch makes sense IMO with a phone of this magnitude. less chaos and less clogging of the retail channel. slow burn as opposed to hot flash since not everyone can get there on Friday morning.

I feel the same. Less than two weeks and it feels like an eternity until June 4th!

this upgrade wait is particularly painful for me because the EVO is such a quantum leap in technology, speed, and display size from my current phone (Palm Centro).

Something else to ponder. The BB 9650 was supposedto be released on the 23rd, but Sprint started shipping orders 2 weeks early.. Who knows, maybe the 30th is a good date..

That would be sick! So if true RS would have a temp 4G hotspot for the release so we can all test out how fast 4G is suppose to be? I wonder how far it would extend for since I live like 3 miles away from my RS -

Well I sent the writer an email and he just replied back that it was a typo and is now fixed on engadgets site
