Just checked for updates, and along came the May security download at 37.1 MB. Haven't installed it yet.

Lo and behold, there it is for mine! Did a check for updates, nothing. Moved on to another task on my phone and up popped the update notification in the notification bar.
Well shoot.
I checked for updates. It searched for a few seconds then said there were none. Then after a ~3-5 second delay, it found the update and started downloading.
I'll install it now and report back.

Finally installed it late last night. No issues so far. Funny that it's the May 5 Security Update, delivered on May 1.
Thought I'd mention that I'm not on the beta program any longer. I dropped out after getting updated to 7.2. Seems like I wasn't getting OTA updates while I was on beta. I was forever having to sideload. Nice to get the update via OTA now that I'm off beta.

Yeah. I just decided to look in on the beta program page, and I read this:
"Thank you for your interest in the Android Beta Program! The beta for Android Nougat has concluded, and all devices that were opted in have been updated to the current public version. If you are still running a beta version of Nougat you may download the latest full OTA image for your device and sideload it. This will not wipe your device. We'll update this site when the Android O Beta Program begins."
Did these jagoffs actually announce this at some point? Did I just miss a memo? Can anyone tell from that paragraph whether or not they actually un-enrolled any phones from the beta program??
Once again, Google redefines what it means to be a witless PITA!

I don't think you're reading that right. They aren't discontinuing the Beta Program completely, only for Nougat, which makes sense since they'll be announcing Android O soon.
I will say this was the first time I've gotten a security patch for my 6p that arrived before the middle of the month, and I certainly never got one on the 1st that's for certain. I opted out of the beta after I got the public 7.2.
No. I read that correctly. What I'd never read was any discussion of the last beta program. I didn't realize that 7.1.2 was the end of the road for that program (which still seems more like an arbitrary endpoint than the kind of number anyone would set as a goal). I just enrolled in the program as soon as I got my 6P. Turns out that I enrolled my phone about 5 hours before these dweebs shutdown the program.

I'd imagine the reason they're dropping the Nougat beta is so they can focus on the beta for Android O. I don't see the issue, once they announce Android O, they'll most likely start the Android O beta, because it won't be officially released until the newer Pixels are released. So you'd still have the newest version of Android months before those who don't have access to the Android Beta Program will, and even then they may not get it until months after the Pixels drop.
The Android O Dev Preview is already out. The first Dev Preview is available from https://developer.android.com/preview/index.html if you're interested. But it's not even in beta yet, more like alpha at this point. If they do it the way they did for Android N, they'll probably start OTA deployments of Dev Preview 2 or 3 by opening the Android Beta program again.
Should be within a month at this point.
Yeah, but I'm not fond enough of the 6P to use an OS on it that's not yet ready for beta. I was hoping that Google would open the O Beta program to enrollment this week and send out the first beta build during I/O next week. But we shall see. I can wait. My heart still belongs to my Nexus 6.
I am still on beta (7.1.2 Build N2G470) on Verizon, downloaded the May 5 update this morning straight from Google.
I'm not sure what the stress is. Unless you're a developer, why would anybody want a buggy OS? I tried out the beta program until 7.0 dropped only because I was having issues getting updates. I NEED my phone to work 100%. If I had a 2nd phone, I'd be on the beta just to be the "1st" to see what's in the pipeline.
