Hey people,I have only couple explanations what do you reckon.
I have a security contact number connected to my online account for obvious reasons security. Only way to change my number is to be logged in, either run in browser or app. Received a msg saying that Security contact number had been changed,I fixed it promptly and thanks to the bank to have a security notification to the previous number connected.
I got the new number connected,Tracked the supposed owner down,He seems legit,Old fella from my country but never know. I talked to my banks fraud department asking is this a bug maybe vulture or is it me. Can't answer with any real confidence.
It's a confusing one it a hackeR who's just demonstrating,Phone through the thousand ways, did the app or website switched numbers or did someone manual do it from the bank. I'm leaving the door open,Though reckon it's ohacked or the bank has some random bugs ATM.

Big ramble but anyone ideas?

Hmm, that's a bit concerning. Does your bank's online account have 2-factor authentication as an option (preferably with an authenticator app, rather than SMS as the 2nd factor)? That would be a more reassuring layer of security.

It's just a security notification alert for any changes,Its instant unlike email which night not be. The contact number it's self is the last bit of security to ensure this crap doesn't happen. You need 8 digit number a birth date then you have a option to revive a code best it can be.
If it was a cracker then why not take everything ,The number connected is as I can tell legit, I even called him seemed on the level didn't pry to much was honest but didn't give up to much. He contactEd our bank cause he RecIved a SMS saying his act contact had been changed to me !

Quoted my last three numbers,Didnt call of a numbered phone. It's random and the bank says probe not the app,So I said is this a yoU rpOblem or n escalate it and work it out.

Sorry, plug what in?

My main concern would be if anyone could simply call into your bank, give your name and some other easy identifying information like your address or date of birth (which are generally easy to find out), and then request changes about your account. Many banks now require a PIN that you actually have to say to the agent when you call in (as opposed to entering it with your keypad), so that they know it's you.

Yeah definetly,My account has 8 digit reference with 3 digit pass code which is used for calls or more authenticatiob. Online a password is used with 8 digit customer number. I have almost all security in place minus app password manager.
Walk ins nah Def possible but nah no card linked to account. So if they managed to get 8 digits 3 digit pass code plus the 4 security Q do it on phone,Im OK with that ATM Online it's 8digts with Password so seems to be easiest approach yeah

Strange situation. Sounds like you're doing all the right things. I'm guessing you're doing this already, but I'd take this as an early warning sign to keep a close eye on your account. If anything else worrisome happens, it might be time to think about changing banks.

I have had small scams get me before a coupe times it happens. Never had this particular situation Happen in such plain sight.
I've Been with this business since I was 10. They are top 3 Big bank in my country. So I really don't think it's necessarily that,What if it's the device with it's connections,Apps whatever. Chnagjng banks wouldn't change much just listen or view the next.
Plug it in and debug possible see if there is some recognisable code/command.
Annoying and if it's is someone being malcious, whos knowledge is decent would be a a bad move on my part

I don't have the programming knowledge to say for sure, but I'd say it's unlikely to be due to the app. I'd guess that most banks wouldn't let you change sensitive things like the phone number linked your account in the app. That's often something you have to do on their website (or through an agent). I use Bank of America, and they don't have any option like that in the app.

Yeah pretty sure over here in the land down under you can change your contact details in app. I will go look again. Thanks B.diddy for your input it is appreciated.
