Media Controller for Gear S3?

It appears to me that one cannot control general media on one's phone from one's Gear S3 watch. I've searched for apps and found none. This would be to control things like Google Music, Amazon Music, podcast players, etc.

My old Neo had this ability.

Am I missing something? Is there an app built in or in the market that does control media on a phone from the S3 watch?

This is puzzling. The music player that comes with the watch let's me control Amazon music player, Google Play music and the Samsung Music app on my phone. I didn't have to do anything special to get it to work.

Make sure you have the "Gear Music Player" app installed on the watch. It may not show in your installed apps

Thank you for the prodding to dig deeper. There is an icon on music player that changes from a watch to a phone when tapped. That switches the control to a true media player. Works great.
