Media Player Volume

The volume on the phone works for everything but my media player. When I go into my media player and begin playing music, the song starts but with no volume. When I try to put the volume up it is stuck on silent and I can't seem to adjust it. However, the volume for everything else works (i.e. ringtones, texts, notifications)... any idea of what is wrong and how I can fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you
