Media scan on sd card?

Is there a way to turn off the media scan for the SD card?
Seems that every time I move/delete/rename files from/to within the SD card it does a media scan, sure it takes a few seconds but just inquiring if there is a setting to keep the scan off? Thanks in advance.

I answered my own question, I installed an app "rescan media" works great so far....kills all scans on the sd card...
