Memory card issues?

Is anyone else having sporadic memory card issues? I have a class 10 sandisk 64gb card and it seems mount and unmount randomly. Tonight it just stopped reading at all. I put the card in the desktop and it read it fine. I swapped cards, rebooted and it saw the 2nd card. I swapped back to the original card, rebooted once and no dice. Rebooted a second time and it worked fine. Suggestions? I'd rather not reformat the card but I guess if push comes to shove....

BTW, I got the black 16gb. The book covers from Samsung need to hurry up and be released. The button placement is dumb. The screen is amazing. The thin bezel is welcome. The back is much more inviting than my original Note 10.1. I miss the front facing speakers. The new S-Pen is nice. Wifi AC FTW!

Thanks for any help offered!

First off, realize that there is no SD card support in Android. Samsung forces it there. So there is a conflict. Second, the last I knew there is a licensing issue with the default format of SDXC cards. You may have to try reformatting to something like NTFS.

Yup...that was happening to me too. I just ordered another SanDisk 32gb card and it has been working just fine since. The previous card was an old one that i had used for the prior Note 10.1.

What's the source for no microSD card support in Android? Every Android product I have ever owned has support. That includes Motorola, HTC and Samsung.

To the OP make sure you format the card ON the tablet and it should mount every time.

I have a somewhat similar issue. My sd card scans... i can listen to my music... my videos are present... but if I open my gallery, it says "no sd card detected." Camera will click pics, but they won't save. Unable to download anything to my phone. Unable to format sd card. When connected to a pc, all sd files are present. scanned it, no viruses or corrupt files. wtf...

Samsung is one of the last OEM to have SD cards on their devices, albeit with card errors to the devices. Moto, and HTC have moved away from SD card mounting, developers have not added the SD card support to the app scripts.

Maybe it is with 64gb cards. I put a used 32gb card from my old Acer tablet in the new Note and it was recognized immediately and I have no issues with it.

Sdxc cards do have compatibility issues with Android.

Well, I've used a 64 gig Sandisk in both my Galaxy S4 and my new Note 2014 with no issues whatsoever. I have found the cards fast and non-glitchy. I have tried other brands like PNY, Toshiba and such in the past and they have always had issues but never once have I had problems with a Sandisk.

You got lucky... Actually Sandisk had a HUGE issue with Samsung phones last year. If you had a card failure and you called Sandisk to say that you had a Samsung phone and your card had been manufactured prior to December 2012, they didn't even ask any questions, they just sent you a replacement.

This is the first time that I'm hearing anything like this... I've only used SanDisk cards in my Samsung devices and NEVER had an issue...

...Sent from my Tablet...Please excuse any typo's...

There are a lot of threads with individuals having problems with SanDisk Ultra micro SD cards, especially in their S4's. I've had two die on me myself. One in my Note 8.0 and the other in my S4.

There was even an issue with some S3s and the Sandisk burning.

See? I'm not crazy ;) hehe SanDisk and Sammy haven't been able to get along lately... Sure, that doesn't mean that SanDisk products are bad, or Samsung's for that matter. It's just that they, well, don't like each other very much most of the time. But if it's working for you, then it works for you, right? Why change it!

Spook, the problems are confined to Sandisk's lower end cards from what I'm gathering. The Sandisk Extreme is quite a bit more durable (and performs better), but it should for the price differential.

I agree with Haalcyon. Don't cheap out on crappy low end cards, and you should be fine. I have a combination of 6 Samsung phones & tablets all using one of the two cards listed below. Have never had a single issue, and a few of the devices have been using the same card for almost 2 years. There is always a chance with failure as with any electronic component, but good storage cards are worth their price.

SanDisk SDSDQUA-064G-U46A Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1

Samsung Electronics 32GB microSDHC Extreme Speed (UHS-1) Class 10

The 64GB Sandisk Ultra is currently formatted ExFAT, and works just fine in my new Note 10.1 (2014ed).
