I was thinking about buying the 16gig class 10 pny over at amazon to replace my old 16gig class 2. I'm tire of the dragging load times on my OV. Anyone have any better suggestions?

It's cool man. I can appreciate tired. I saw that, yeah, but I'm not rooted and I don't plan to be any time soon.

/facepalm....then a class 10 card isnt going to help as much as you think. you can remove you card and still use the phone. then benefit of having a higher class sdcard is so you can offload things to the sdcard and free up system ram. but a unrooted phone isnt going to get noticeably that much faster.

Eh. My biggest problem is how long startup takes before I can access the apps on the sd card.

A faster sdcard will not fix that.
The stock rom has things that need to load that hamper your load times.

The best option is to root and install one of the froyo roms or IHO variants
For the most part IHO is as stable as the froyo roms. Couple things pop up but not always on every phone.

faster SD card wont help you, the only improvement youll notice is when you try to copy a few gigs at one time to it from a PC. class 2 will take forever, class 10 will be a decent transfer speed.

individual apps wont benefit, the data they load is so small any transfer speed improvement is lost on it.

and it definately wont do a thing to start up time. your looking at custom roms now.

I totally agree with Eollie. I'm running the BACKside IHO ROM with 24 apps on the phone and 75 on the SD card. My total time from pushing the reboot to total usability is 2 1/2min using SD speed. I don't really know if SD speed helped, but it doesn't seem to take as long with it. Most of that is probably the Ron I'm using.

The really sad part is what the classes mean. Yes they do stand for a speed but most dont even know. Class 2 will go 2mb/s atleast and a Class 10 will do 10mb/s minimum. But with that said the fact still stands that most class 2 (from name brand reliable vendors) will do 10mb/s alrdy and the avg class 10 u find will do about 16-18mb/s. Now if u find a Class 10 that is really fast 25mb/s or faster u will spend upwards of $100+ for a 16GB microSDHC.

I bought an ADATA 8GB Class 10 microSDHC from newegg.com. The best I can get from it is just under 20mb/s and that is still considered fast. I run a rooted and ROMed OV and use Data2ext with no noticeable speed increase on my phone at all.

Conclusion - If its a bargain SDcard don't relate that to speed at all. The best u will get is near the minimum. The class 2 SDcards will work just fine there is no reason to shell out more for a phone SDcard.
