Message Counter

I don't know why, but I think this feature is annoying as hell. Anyone know a way to disable message counting. You know it looks like this : Joe Dirt(198)

It's that annoying?
If you have Hadncent SMS, it's an option to turn on/off in -->Menu-->Settings-->Send message settings.

It's not annoying to me but it's enough to make me not want to use the stock messaging app. Currently using handcent but does anyone know if there is a way to turn off the counter in the stock app?

i like it. not only convenient to easily see you spend too much time on txt, but now I saw that .3 i didnt see a txt limit per person before you needed to delete. . . now on .6 there is a 150 message limit from what i saw that made me delete messages in that convo to proceed to that user.

Wouldnt have known how to troubleshoot that without this counter
