Message dinging nose but no message why?

[Android Central Question]

My boyfriend and i switch to boost mobile about a month ago. We both got the lg stylo 4. My phone is working fine but his since day one has this repeated dinging nose like he got a message but there isnt one. He says it even worst when he is on the phone. So is there a way he can stop it from doing that? Or is it the phone in general? Please help.

Does he have NFC enabled? If so, is his phone near anything magnetic, such as a credit card?
