Message notification details

I've just made the jump from iPhone to Android after 8 years. Really love it!

However the notifications don't work how I want for what's app and sms. I like to be a able to see my unread messages in the notifications - all of them. But the way things are now, I can see the first message, but then the preview flips to "2 unread messages" "3 unread messages" at and I can't see the content. How can I fix this? I want to be able to read the message without needing to go into what's app - otherwise the person knows that I read it.

Unfortunately this varies by app, but if the app supports it, you can expand the notification with two fingers to read more messages (swipe down on the notification using two fingers). Whatsapp does let you do this, however, if you have several conversations or the number of unread messages is too long, it'll truncate it.

But if you want to read the messages without the read status changing, just go into Airplane mode, open Whatsapp, read your messages, exit the app, and turn airplane mode off. Voilá!

To me Andriod is Superior in all ways to IOS except for messaging , not as detailed there

Also if you have an Android Wear device, you can see complete conversations in Whatsapp and most texting apps without affecting your read-online status.
