Message notification sounds

I am not getting notification sounds when I select the Google Message app, only when I use the Oneplus message app? I have sounds turned on for Messages, is there a way to turn it on?

Long press Google message icon , tap info then scroll to notification make sure they are checked.

Do you have both messaging apps active, or did you disable the stock messaging app?
